This new collection is my reflection living through the pandemic. The call to live in simplicity, yet the complication to adapt to new ways, new rules, new technology and the idea that we are no longer with the ones we love, might send many of us to cry out to heaven. My Hope is that my work can serve as a visual reminder that something that was a sign of shame and rejection is now a symbol of hope, resurrection to a new life, a new beginning like never before.

This cross is handcrafted with alder wood, and painted with acrylics and stained to achieve a rustic look. The heart in the center, Luis’ key signature in many of his creations, is carved on bass wood and skillfully painted with acrylics to achieve the vibrant, bold look, characteristic of his work. For this collection he has replaced the wood rays as in previous works, with cooper. This technique gives the feeling of a softer and luminous appearance, which allows him to better convey the message of a loving, kind and merciful God, who’s heart is always overflowing with his love and mercy, the rays extending away and down are the fire and light of the Holy Spirit leading us to the Sacred heart of Jesus and at the same time warming our hearts to be men and women for others.
